Life Stories ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the My Life Stories: Family Vault mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
We collect the following types of information:
• Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
• Profile information: profile photo, family role, and other details you choose to provide.
• Content you create: voice recordings, video recordings, written answers, photos, and AI-generated stories ("User Content").
• Payment information: processed by Stripe; we do not store full payment card details.
• Usage data: how you interact with the Service, features used, and session duration.
• Device information: device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
• Analytics data: anonymized usage patterns collected via PostHog.
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Transcribe your recordings and generate AI-assisted stories.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Send transactional emails (receipts, invitations, account notices).
• Monitor Service performance and fix technical issues.
• Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We share your information only in these circumstances:
• Family members you invite: when you share your book, invited members can view the content you share with them.
• Service providers: Supabase (database and storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), OpenAI (AI transcription and story generation), Kling AI (video generation), Sentry (error monitoring), and PostHog (analytics). Each provider processes data only as necessary to deliver their service.
• Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided to users.
Your voice recordings, videos, and photos are stored securely and used solely to provide the Service to you. AI providers (OpenAI, Kling AI) process your content to generate transcriptions, stories, and animated videos. We do not use your personal content to train AI models. You retain ownership of all content you create.
When you invite family members to your book, they can view the content you share with them. You control what is shared and can revoke access at any time. Invited members are subject to the same Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring you have consent before including recordings of other people.
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we retain your data for 30 days to allow for recovery, after which it is permanently deleted. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your account and data.
• Export your content before account deletion.
• Opt out of non-essential communications.

On the web version of the Service, we use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use PostHog for anonymized analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may affect functionality.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
